Reprieve
The scent of coffee and rain awakens the house
To find that relief from heated days
Arrived upon the wind
Creating a collective *sigh* to gather in the air
Once shut for protection
Doors and minds fling open to the world
Inviting in the crisp scent of cool
And the promise of Autumns return
Stale breathe escapes into the atmosphere
As hope swells in the belly of the neighborhood

I hear you with your mention of the windows open, Dana. In summer I kept them closed, to keep out the eat. Now it feels so good to let in the fresh air of autumn...and letting the 'stale' air escape!
