Medicated

You proceed the same...
You speak like always
I observe
Fluttering about or
Lounging leisurely
In this manner
Nothing has changed
Same obnoxious jokes
Filtered views
I notice
You just can't fix ignorant
With pills
In this manner
You are still you
Still unmotivated
Unmoved to accomplish tasks
I sigh
Having to be told what your
Priorities should be
In this manner
Nothing has changed
You are who you will always be...
at least you aren't yelling anymore

Please leave me your thoughts below. I do appreciate them!
You shared a portrait here. I guess pills cannot be expected to fix everything. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThat's the point... realization that medication does not change everything about a person. You have to learn to live with the rest.
Deleteoh heck..that's sad truth..ignorance can't be fixed with pills...maybe there's still a chance that he's changing though...never give up hope..
ReplyDeleteHope is not lost... patience is key. I just happen to not have a whole lot of it!
Deleteugh...yeah, you are not going to change people all that much...may subdue them a bit with the pills but it takes a much deeper kinda change....
ReplyDeleteps i love your new header....did you do that?
ReplyDeleteThe thing about it is... you don't know how much of the issue was due to illness, and how much just "is". We (I rather) are figuring it out as we go.
DeleteMy awesome friend Khara House did the header for me. Isn't she brilliant! I've been trying to clean up and decorate a bit!
Oh, Man! That last line is excellent! Awesome write about a difficult situation!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteNo meds can't fix something that just 'is' there already. Very thought provoking write Dana.
ReplyDeleteThank you Daydreamertoo! I appreciate you stopping by.
DeleteSometimes you just can't change or motivate others ~ A difficult situation to handle ~
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Dana. Lots of hard-earned wisdom here, but also a generous amount of heart. Khara does do great work. The new header speaks of both of you great artists and poets. Peace.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lara! Yes, Khara did a fabulous job on the header!
Delete'You just can't fix ignorant' - brilliant line. Thought provoking words indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Such a tough situation... you are so right, medication is never a magic solution, though we wish it might be.
ReplyDeleteTouching, moving write.
Like this one, Dana. All of us are probably touched by someone in a similiar situation.
ReplyDeleteYou can't fix ignorant with a pill... but at least you're not yelling anymore... so I suppose medication can help with at least some aspects. The message here, the feeling... so clear and concise and powerful. Well written.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a good attitude, though... we can't change people and we can't let their addictions change us.
ReplyDeleteVery good, and so true medication doesn't always fix the problem... I feel for you... it's hard to cope with sometimes.
ReplyDeleteVery poignant
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this poem. Very well-written... If you ever need someone to talk to about these things, look me up!
ReplyDeleteYou touch on a lot of hard issues including how far can pharmaceuticals and your own patience get you in dealing with this person. There are never easy answers. Take good care.
ReplyDeleteWow Dana, nicely done. Beautifully illustrates my thought that people can try to run away in all sorts of ways, but the problem is they always take themselves with ...er...them.
